Onimusha: Way of the Sword Trophy Guide
Last verified: Sep 4, 2026 · Release-day edition
Onimusha: Way of the Sword ships with 52 trophies: 1 Platinum, 2 Gold, 9 Silver and 40 Bronze. The platinum is a completion trophy at heart — 100% of the collectibles, every skill, all equipment maxed — plus a New Game+ run on the hardest difficulty. This guide lists every trophy and the roadmap that gets you there in the fewest playthroughs.

Platinum Roadmap
| Factor | Detail |
|---|---|
| Estimated difficulty | 6.5/10 |
| Time to platinum | 60–70 hours |
| Offline trophies | 52 (1P / 2G / 9S / 40B) |
| Online trophies | 0 |
| Missable trophies | 0 — after the story, Continue in the main menu puts you back before the final mission |
| Difficulty-related | Yes — must beat the game on "Carnage" (New Game+ only) and all Boss Rematch opponents on all difficulties |
| Minimum playthroughs | 2 (one to unlock Carnage, then New Game+ on Carnage) |
| Free-roam / level select | Free-roam up to the final mission "The Clash at Rendaino" — clean up everything before it |
| New Game+ | Yes, required for Carnage difficulty |
| Saves | 1 autosave slot, 20 manual save slots |
Step 1 — Action Difficulty to the Final Mission
At the start you choose between Story (easy) and Action (medium). Start on Action to practise for Carnage. Play through the story, saving citizens and exploring as you go, until the final mission "The Clash at Rendaino" — the game warns you with a point-of-no-return prompt. Nothing is missable up to this point, but you lose free-roam once you start it.
Step 2 — Collectible & Upgrade Clean-up
Before the final mission, sweep Kyoto for all 274 collectible locations: 36 Lion Dogs, 23 Genma Notes, 8 Mysteries of Kyoto, 7 Oni Armaments, 9 Hozuki Pouches, 15 Charms, 18 Chance Encounters, and the 54 Power Stones, 54 Oni Stones, 25 Fine Silk Cloths and 25 Tamahagane used for upgrades. Prioritise the three Oni Vision skills — Oni Vision: Treasures, Oni Vision: Treasures 2 and Oni Vision: Search Range — because they make every other collectible visible. If you keep a manual save at this point you can return for anything missed.
Step 3 — Complete the Game
Finish the final mission to earn the story's closing trophies and unlock Carnage difficulty.
Step 4 — New Game+ on Carnage
Start New Game+ and select Carnage. Carry-over includes Awakened Oni abilities, enhanced skills, Hozuki Pouches, items, Charms, Genma Notes and Lion Dogs; story progress, Mysteries of Kyoto, Chance Encounters, clothing, sword/gauntlet enhancements, Red Souls and Spirit Mirror unlocks do not carry over. Completing Carnage unlocks the True Onimusha trophy and a weapon that eases the final step.
Step 5 — Boss Rematch
In the Practice Ground, complete every Boss Rematch opponent on all difficulty levels to finish Glutton for Punishment and the platinum.
Don't spend Power Stones and Oni Stones early. Save them until Oni Vision: Treasures and its upgrades are available — the vision skills are the difference between a 60-hour clean-up and a 90-hour one.

Farming the Combat Trophies
Most bronze trophies are usage counters that fill naturally across two playthroughs. If a few lag behind at the end, the Boss Rematch arena is the best place to farm them — fights are repeatable, difficulty is your choice, and low-tier rematches (Byakue, Dokyo) give safe, endless targets for Issen, Chain Issen, Blazing State, Reflex Combo and deflect counting. Deadeye and Genma Griller need the bow and fire sources respectively, so pick up the Oni Bow (story-required in the Oni Refuge) and look for fire-imbued environmental objects when farming those.
