Onimusha: Way of the Sword Oni Armaments
Last verified: Sep 4, 2026 · Release-day edition
Oni Armaments are the magical weapons of Onimusha: Way of the Sword — seven supernatural arms that run on absorbed souls rather than stamina. This guide lists all seven with their exact locations and how each one changes the way you fight.

How Oni Armaments Work
In previous Onimusha games Musashi wielded multiple weapons freely. In Way of the Sword the Armaments work differently: each one is powered by a magic gauge that fills as Musashi absorbs blue souls. Activating an Armament unleashes its power and drains the gauge; until it refills, the weapon cannot be used again.
That limitation is the point. Activated Armaments generate purple souls, which build the Oni Awakening gauge — so the Armaments are the bridge between the souls economy and Musashi's transformation. Using them well is not about spam; it is about spending the gauge at the moment it changes a fight, then rebuilding it through good defence (blue souls appear more often during Blazing State).
Finding all 7 Armaments unlocks the Oni Armory trophy. Two of them — the Two Celestials and the Oni Bow — arrive through the story; the rest are found in chests across Kyoto, Mount Oe and Arashiyama. None are missable: every location stays accessible until the point of no return before the final mission, "The Clash at Rendaino."
All 7 Oni Armaments
#1 — The Two Celestials
Type: paired swords. The Two Celestials are Musashi's first Armament, obtained during the opening chapter at Kiyomizu-dera: destroy the second Thread Genma locking the second oni gate, then loot the treasure chest dropped from the threads. The weapon's skill — Two Celestials: Combo Strength — extends light-attack chains, making it the reliable all-rounder for the early game. Its full power is tied to the Oni Awakening state, where its combo routes shine.
#2 — Oni Bow
Type: ranged bow. The Oni Bow is found in a chest on the main path of the Oni Refuge and cannot be missed — it is required for the story. It answers ranged threats (archers above all), interacts with distant puzzle elements and traps, and its charged shots can set enemies ablaze for the Genma Griller trophy. The bow's skill tree adds headshot utility, and Deadeye (100 headshots) is farmed with it.
#3 — Wind-Whipper
Type: double-edged blade. Wind-Whipper is obtained automatically during the mission "The Oni's Apprentice," after Ono no Takamura shows Musashi the skill practice grounds and Boss Rematch features — a chest appears there containing the weapon. Wind-Whipper rewards wide, sweeping patterns against groups and is the natural pick for crowd control once its enhancements are purchased.
#4 — Earth-Shakers
Type: great hammer. Earth-Shakers is found in a chest in the Underground Laboratory beneath Nijo-jo Castle, on Underground Level 4, past the fan puzzle in the next room. As a heavy weapon it trades speed for reach and stagger — and its environmental utility matters: the hammer is what stops the laboratory's mechanisms during the Nijo-jo story sequence.
#5 — Firebird Flute
Type: magical flute. The Firebird Flute is found in a chest where the Rift was during the mission "Shadows Fall," south of the Gojo Street — East Spirit Shrine. The flute is the game's fire tool: its attacks set enemies ablaze, which is what Genma Griller (three enemies burning at once) demands. Pair it with environmental fire sources for the fastest farming.
#6 — Flashing Void
Type: piercing spear. Flashing Void is found in a chest in the Castle Courtyard of Mount Oe, inside a cave that requires a slide to enter. The spear's reach and thrusting attacks make it the strongest single-target option against large foes — a natural pick for the late-game boss gauntlet on Mount Oe and beyond.
#7 — Still Water
Type: katana. Still Water is the final Armament, found in a chest in the northeast corner of the Arashiyama swamp map. It is a precise, high-tempo blade that rewards the defensive timing the game has been teaching all along — its moveset flows out of parries and Deflects, making it the ideal weapon for the final stretch of the story and the Boss Rematch arena.
You can collect all seven before the point of no return. If you keep a manual save from just before the final mission, you can still sweep for any Armament you missed after the credits — nothing is permanently lost.
Armament Trophies
The Armaments feed several trophies directly: Oni Armory (acquire all 7), Wielder of Oni Armaments (defeat 100 enemies with them), Genma Griller (three enemies ablaze at once — Firebird Flute), Deadeye (100 bow headshots) and Berserker (3 enemies with continuous Break Issen attacks, easier with the Two Celestials' combo routes). The Boss Rematch arena is the best place to farm these after the story.

Oni Armaments FAQ
How many Oni Armaments are in Onimusha: Way of the Sword?
Seven: the Two Celestials, Oni Bow, Wind-Whipper, Earth-Shakers, Firebird Flute, Flashing Void and Still Water. Collecting all of them unlocks the Oni Armory trophy.
How do Oni Armaments work in Onimusha: Way of the Sword?
Each Armament is charged by absorbing blue souls. Activating it unleashes the weapon's power and drains the gauge until it refills; activated Armaments generate purple souls that build the Oni Awakening gauge.
Can you miss Oni Armaments?
No. All seven locations stay accessible until the point of no return before the final mission, and Continue after the story places you back before that point.
Which Oni Armament is the best?
It depends on the situation: the Two Celestials are the reliable all-rounder, Earth-Shakers and Flashing Void excel against large enemies, the Firebird Flute is the fire tool, and Still Water rewards the defensive timing that carries boss fights.
